Awoiska van der Molen's Photography
Awoiska van der Molen is most renowned for her atmospheric and monochromatic landscape photographs, in which she investigates the emotional, psychological and intangible aspects of nature.
By using shadows, fine textures and the contrasts between light and darkness, she captures distant landscapes, prompting viewers to feel a sense of isolation before becoming connected with the natural world. She mainly works in black and white, producing strong and immersive images using traditional darkroom printing.
Her photographs have been shown internationally, as well as at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and she was awarded the Hariban Award in 2014 and the Larry Sultan Photography Award in 2017.
