An original, large-scale painting by Alexander Calder, this unique work showcases Calder's iconic bold colour palette and dynamic abstract forms. The piece, painted in 1968, is hand-signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner and is accompanied by a bespoke frame.
Although on a two-dimensional plane, the gouache on paper exudes a vivid sense of movement. The bold, organic shapes, each slightly asymmetric and seeming to sway or fall, are strategically arranged to evoke rhythm and dynamism, giving the illusion that the shapes are in mid-motion. The vibrant red and blue forms contrast with the central black shape, drawing the eye in a flowing path across the paper.
