A deeply emotive work rendered in patinated bronze, Tracey Emin’s ‘Holding On To You’ features the artist herself as the central subject captured in an intimate, vulnerable pose against a backdrop drawn from her familiar surroundings and a motif that recurs throughout her work, her bed. This bronze, created as a panel, continues Emin’s exploration of memory, desire, and emotional exposure, themes central to her work. Despite its medium, the surface feels sketch-like, echoing the fragility of human connection and a persistence of longing. The work exemplifies Emin’s ability to transform personal narrative into resonant forms through minimal yet powerful works. The edition of 9 was previously exhibited at Galleria Lorcan O'Neill and is stamped on the reverse with the date, artist’s initials, and the foundry mark.
