KAWS (b.1974) is an American artist and designer known for his iconic characters and bold, graphic style that combines fine art and popular culture. Starting as a graffiti artist in the 1990s, KAWS gained global recognition for reimagining familiar cartoon figures with X-ed out eyes and skull-like heads. Having exhibited in museums around the world, including the Museum of Art in Atlanta and Serpentine Gallery in London, his work spans painting, sculpture, product design, and large-scale public installations, often bridging the worlds of street art, fashion, and commercial design.
