Jamie Reid (1947–2023) was a British artist and activist, internationally acclaimed for his distinctive collage-based graphics that became synonymous with the punk movement. Blending elements of Pop Art, Situationist techniques, and anarchist politics, Reid’s work explored themes of rebellion, dissent, and social critique. His bold, ransom-note style imagery, most famously seen in his designs for the Sex Pistols, captured the spirit of cultural defiance and continues to influence visual culture. Reid’s work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, Tate, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Drawing on a lifelong commitment to activism and radical art, Reid brought a raw, confrontational edge to contemporary graphic design, leaving an indelible mark on both art and political expression.
