Albert Irvin (1922-2015) was a British abstract expressionist artist. After serving during World War 2, Irvin studied at Goldsmiths, somewhere he would later teach at for over twenty years. Irvin’s earlier work explored still life, domestic scenes and landscapes, though he was influenced by the expressionist style and his work became looser and more abstract through his painting and printmaking. In 2013 Irvin was awarded an OBE for his contribution to art and his work is extensively exhibited in the UK, as well as abroad.
